Brian Wright has many years’ experience working with and training dogs. Brian has worked with dogs of all ages and breeds and many with disabilities and abusive backgrounds. His intense love for canines with less-than-desirable histories, as well as those with disabilities instilled his passion for training. Brian believes that building a relationship and bonding with the dogs is key to training success because it makes training much more rewarding for both dog and owner. Relationship-based training combines several different training methods, but focuses on a more individualized approach for both dog and owner. It is the relationship between dogs and humans that drives everything, according to Brian! Brian has worked with various clubs and has assisted many professional dog trainers throughout his life. He has also worked with 4-H groups to help kids learn to train their own dogs.

YES! There are a lot of "certification" programs and organizations for dog trainers, but not all are created equal. Some organizations you pay to become a member and by proxy they call you a trainer. Some certifications are a few questions online that anyone that has ever owned a dog can pass with enough tries. There are some organizations made up of trainers that are trying, and with success, combining all their knowledge into a series of tasks and tests that must be completed to show the knowledge before they issue a certification.
Band of Canines Certification originates from National K9. The National K-9 School for Dog Trainers is regulated and approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (School Registration No. 753). This state board ensures compliance set by Ohio law and grants schools the authority to issue certifications. Upon completion of a National K-9 course, graduates are authorized to use the title Certified Professional Trainer or letters CPT after their name. The National K-9 School for Dog Trainers is also a member of the Ohio-Michigan Association of Career Colleges and Schools.
Any Band of Canines Trainer who has not gone to National K9 is required regardless of experience to apprentice with us for 2 years. After the 2 years we give a series of tasks and tests so our trainer can prove what they have learned. After passing Band of Canines issues its own certificate that shows the hours each trainer dedicated thier studies towards. We don't stop learning! Every year we dedicate ourselves to take more training. We recognize new training techniques and a better understanding of our canine partners are developing daily and we strive to stay at the top of our training. If a trainer cannot pass the testing to our standards we let them go for their safety and the safety of your pets.
At Band of Canines LLC, we specialize in transforming problem behaviors. Our trainers use a customized approach to address your dog's specific issues and create a training plan that works for you and your furry friend.
